My final pitch as Healthcare Sector Head in the Blue Hen Investment Club was a purchase of Merck (MRK) on October 27th, 2022. At the time, our sector lacked allocation in the pharmaceutical vertical, and I was seeking an investment opportunity in a large pharma company to give our sector more diversification and a non-volatile company to hold as we were experiencing uncertainty with inflation and the interest rate environment. After conducting in-depth industry, business, and valuation research, my sector and I decided Merck was the company we were looking for. Below you can find the attached materials for the pitch. The pitch was successfully passed, and we currently hold Merck as one of our holdings within the portfolio. Roughly 2% of the total allocation.
